Mission Statement

The South Fremont Senior Citizens Center was created in 1972 to serve the nutritional and social needs of persons in our community 60 years and older, and help them to achieve a better quality of life; to secure and maintain independence and dignity in a home environment for older individuals who are capable of self care with the appropriate supportive services; to remove individual and social barriers to economic and personal independence for older individuals; and to provide a continuum of care to the vulnerable elderly, serving those older individuals most at risk of institutionalization.

The South Fremont Senior Citizen's Center is a non profit organization that is located in St. Anthony, Idaho, at 420 North Bridge Street, Suite 'D', inside the city building. The Center was created in 1972 to serve the nutritional and social needs of persons in our community, 60 years and older.

We provide a needed service in our area. We locate and identify frail and vulnerable seniors and get them the supportive services that they need so that they can maintain their independence. We are able to keep seniors in their home longer, so they don't end up in nursing homes prematurely, by providing them with a hot nutritious meal on a daily basis.

We promote physical and mental well-being of seniors in our community through nutrition, education and health with our programs. We are also here to help the community benefit from resources in knowledge, experience, wisdom, skill, concern, energy and service of its older residence.

We service the area of Southern Fremont County, which consists of St. Anthony, Chester, Parker, Teton, Wilford and the Egin area. We provide such services as; congregate meals, home delivery meals, transportation, socialization, nutrition, education, health information and consumer awareness.

We serve lunch at the Senior Center on Monday through Thursday, at noon, where everyone can come to socialize and also play bingo or cards and enjoy the entertainment that our wonderful entertainment director puts together each week. They also get a great, nutritious, hot meal that a lot of seniors who are alone just do not fix for themselves. For those who do not drive and need a ride, we provide transportation to and from the Center.

For seniors who are homebound, we deliver a hot, nutritious meal to their home Monday through Thursday and frozen meals for those who need meals to get them through the weekend. This meal is the only meal that some of our seniors who are homeboud will recieve and have to eat for the day, which is why this program is so sorely needed.

We keep our Center open and running through donations and other funding resources such as: The United Way, EICAP, The City of St. Anthony, Idaho and Fremont County. Without their continued support through the years, we would probably have had to close our doors by now, due to so many cuts from other government programs.

Our program helps seniors enjoy a greater quality of life. The services that we provide support their independence and keeps them in their home longer and out of nursing homes.
