Mar 31, 2010 - Annual Easter Bonnet Contest
We held our Annual Easter Bonnet Contest today. We had eight Senior Ladies make and wear Easter Bonnets this year, but no Senior Gentleman, we're sorry to say. Here are photos of the eight Senior Ladies who wore bonnets.
Joyce Pead made several of the bonnets - four in all this year. She doesn't use a pattern so each one is unique. She said that it takes about a day and a half to make each hat.
The winners this year were:
• Funniest - Cowboy Bunny Pam
• Most Original - Joyce Pead
• Prettiest - Karen Warner
Jan. 20, 2010 - A call for entertainers
We have great people in our community who perform for the Senior Citizens on a regular basis - and we love them and appreciate their talent. However, we are looking for other local talent to come and perform for us as well - and we know that you're out there.
We need performers for our Wednesday meal time, which is from 12:00 noon to 12:30 p.m. We'll even feed you a healthy lunch!
If you or your group would like to perform to a willing and appreciative crowd, please call Ethel Marx at 624-4104 or call the Senior Citizens Center at 624-3458 or email us info@sfscc.info. We would love to have you perform for us.
Nov. 11, 2009 - Veterans Day
Our center director, Karolyn Hodge, spoke about Veterans Day today. Many of our seniors are veterans and we gave them a standing ovation with a round of applause for their service in our behalf.

Oui, Wii. We now have a Nintendo Wii and a large screen monitor to play it on. For those who don't know, many assisted living centers use the Nintendo Wii to help seniors stay fit - to a certain degree. They play the Wii Sports, which includes tennis, baseball, golf, boxing and bowling. Bowling seems to be the SFSCC favorite. The Seniors are using it on Tuesday and Thursday for exercise and hope to get good enough to have tournaments with other Senior Centers in the area. Come give it a try! |

Due to budget cuts, the South Fremont Senior Citizen's Center and the Ashton Senior Center were going to lose the transportation portion of the their Senior programs. Karolyn Hodge met with the Fremont County Commissioners and the Commissioners assured her they would happily help both South Fremont and Ashton to keep their transportation programs. "It's a small part of our budget, we can afford it and we're going to support the program. It's too good a thing for our area," said Paul Romrell, Fremont County Commissioner to Karolyn Hodge, the Center's Director. Thanks to the Fremont County Commissioners.
